My experience with the 416 microphone is fine -- except in a high wind, with the fluffy wind sock, it may shake the camera. And sometimes the wind sock creeps forward and gets into wide angle shots.

Re: Chromatic aberration on Brand New PMW300
Thanks for that. I found the same sticker. It says 1-788-858. Under that: L00001854. Is your number different?

Re: Chromatic aberration on Brand New PMW300
I heard back from my friend at the Toronto rental company. He says "my 300 lenses have serial numbers and they are not the same numbers that are on the cameras."
Sony is not being truthful.

Re: Chromatic aberration on Brand New PMW300
Thanks -- I have asked the rental company to double check its lenses for serial numbers. Maybe Sony is in serial denial...

Re: Chromatic aberration on Brand New PMW300
Can you find out what Sony actually did to fix the problem? Did they give you a new lens -- with a serial number? I am still being told the lens simply follows the camera's serial number, which is not true according to a large rental company in Toronto that has several 300s.

Re: Chromatic aberration on Brand New PMW300
Here's an update re the chromatic aberration problem. Sony Canada sent me a firmware update specifically targeted at this problem. I installed it, did a quick test, and it looks better. Will do more tests. I asked about the absence of serial number and they said the lens number follows the camera se...

Re: Chromatic aberration on Brand New PMW300
I have the Sony half inch lens adapter that lets you use the zoom lens from another Xdcam camera. When I ran into the chromatic aberration problem with the PMW 300 I swapped the lens for an 18:1 Fujinon lens that came with an Xdcam HD 350. That lens works fine on the 300, and all the electronics tal...

Re: Chromatic aberration on Brand New PMW300
That sounds like the best solution, and I may follow up with Sony and Henry's in Toronto. Does your lens have a serial number?

Re: Chromatic aberration on Brand New PMW300
I also have chromatic aberration problems with a brand new Sony PMW 300 camera. This occurs at all apertures. My other concern is that the lens has no serial number -- meaning I can't insure it separately from the camera. I would like to know of any other users with similar concerns. I plan to retur...
