I have an EX3 but I think they have similar controls Have you checked the switch near the XLR Socket to ensure it is not in the "Line" position, if your mic is phantom powered it needs to be in the +48V position In the Audio Set Menu of the camera check "TRIM CH-2 is somewhere near th...

I have an EX3
I use it for car racing so normally I am zooming quite quickly. Is has an adjustable maximum speed thumbwheel. If you turn it to the slowest position then it will creep. I have just tested it for bump, zooming in it seems an improvement over the lens rocker.

I use a Manfrotto MN521EX
It is designed for EX1 EX1R and EX3 lenses and clamps to the tripod handle
It has variable speed control and a Record Start Stop button.

Sony make a rubber sleeve part number 317988201 which will hold a Rode NTG-2 in the original holder. It is available from dealers
