EX1 Batteries

Hi all,
I've been doing some research and it look like the Swit is the only alternative to the original Sony BP-U60 battery. I wonder if anyone knows of any others? I guess i was hoping for the third party manufacturers to come out with £20 batteries like they do for other cameras!

On another topic, I notice the Swit has to be plugged into the DC input. I wonder if that means its hot swapable with the BP-U60. e.g. plug in the Swit while running off the BP-U60, then unclip the Sony and clip on the Swit?

Cheers
Les

You probably can do a hot swap that way. I have one of the swits and it's a good battery.

Re: EX1 Batteries

Thanks, I've ordered a Swit now. Turns out the EX1R comes with a BP-U30 not a 60 as i had assumed. Its still 2 hours running time though, can't complain. My DSR570 only runs for three with a Pag L95 which is three times the price!

I'm curious:

Did anyone test this?
And did it work?

Re: EX1 Batteries

Its worth mentioning that the battery remaining time dosn't work with the Swit. Understandable since it goes into the DC input. There is a menu item to set at what voltage the battery alarm goes off at. I found with the default setting i got less than 2min warning so i turned it up by 0.1v

Keep in mind to some people it might be worth paying th extra for the sony battery if the time remaining as well as not having to plug into the DC input is an issue.

Cheers

Re: EX1 Batteries

The Swit isn't much cheaper than a BP-U60. But it has a D-Tap port for powering external devices like camera lights and NanoFlashes. That's why I like them.
