I have been shooting a lot recently with an older camera, the Sony pdw350 and have found that it really struggles with high contrast lighting conditions. Can anyone suggest how to tackle this with different camera settings - If any of you have used the camera and have a good setup for dealing with harsh outdoor light - I would love to hear from you and try some different options - many thanks

The PDW-F series cameras don't have a the same latitude as some of the newer cameras. I always used to set the detail frequency to +50 to thin down the correction edges and use cinegamma 1 or 4 to maximise highlight handling (remembering to underexpose by about a stop compared to standard gamma). This will then need a little grading to restore the gamma to Rec-709 or similar, other wise skin tones may wash out.
