Filming a Rifle recoiling

Post by walkabouttv » January 10th, 2013, 7:06 pm

G'day Alister,
I need to film a rifle being fired and the recoil from it.
I know I will not be able to go so slow that I will see the bullet leave the barrel.
But I want to record the slowest possible speed and still get something!
What settings do you recomend?
It will be with a EX3

Thanks

With the EX3 the best you can do is to set the camera to NTSC area with a base rate of 23.98p. Then use S&Q motion to shoot at 60fps. This will give around a 2.5x slow down.

You'd really be better off using an FS700 and shooting at 240fps.
