What records dual HD-SDI?

Post by harryllama@yahoo.com » February 11th, 2011, 8:03 am

Hello, I've been reading about the Sony-F3, and I'm wondering what external device can record the high-quality output from the dual HD-SDI ports (or from the 3G-SDI port)? It sounds like the nano records 10-bit 4:2:2, but the camera can output RBG, which I assume is 4:4:4... any info appreciated as we consider this lens.

At the moment 4:4:4 recording options are limited. You could use an HDCAM SR deck, there are 4:4:4 cards for Mac's and PC's from BlackMagic Designs and various high end vendors have 4:4:4 recorders such as the Cinedeck. Then there will be the new Sony solid state SR memory recorder. Non of these are cheap, however there will be more low cost 4:4:4 recorders coming out at NAB.

Thanks, Alister! We do have a Matrox MX02 LE, which has two SDI ins, but according to the specs it seems that it records 4:2:2 like the nanos. We'll keep our eyes open for the NAB announcements. Thanks for all the updates!
