Re: EX1r Picture Profile Settings

All the EX1 picture profiles will work with the EX1R. This is what I use for most of my shooting:

Cinegamma 4
Cinema Matrix +35
Detail Level -8
Detail Frequency +30
Crispening +30
Black Level -3
Black Gamma -20

Re: EX1r Picture Profile Settings

Hello Alister: I just noticed your profiles you use for most of your shooting. What type video do you shoot most of the time? With my EX-3 and soon with a new EX-1R I shoot racing footage at night. Many times the tract is very poorly lit and the light changes every 20 feet. The cars run at speeds well over 100 mph on the straights. The final product is distributed on SD 16x9 DVD and on our website as flash.

What would you recommend as a profile for this type is shooting?

Thanks

Re: EX1r Picture Profile Settings

I have developed a picture profile for low light shooting, it doesn't give a massive difference, but every little helps. I look up the settings tomorrow and post them here. My speciality is severe weather and natural extremes, so hurricanes, tornadoes, lightning, volcanoes, northern lights etc.

Hey alister I recently saw your video on youtube regarding the color gammas. and adjusted my pp on my ex1r the settings you gave. In particular, the film look I have noticed has a blue tint to it and I just wanted to make sure that as accurate. If there are any other pp you could recommend for short and feature length narrative fictional filmmaking I would love to know them thank you.

Re: EX1r Picture Profile Settings

Hi, I would appreciate a bit of advice on Sony EX1R picture settings.

I'm a video editor and motion graphics artist, and one of my clients is a videographer who doesn't speak much English unfortunately. He wants to understand how the picture settings work in EX1R. Could you help me to help him please?

Here's what we need to know:

1) What controls the sharpness of the image in the picture settings on camera, and what is the maximum reasonable value for that?

2) What controls the color saturation and what is the maximum reasonable value?

3) What is the in-camera version of the gain (or "inner brightness", as my client calls it), and how does it work?

4) Could you recommend any good combination of in-camera picture settings for making a color-rich, sharp image?

Best regards,

Dimitri Vorontzov
