Mixing Z1 & EX1R footage
Mixing Z1 & EX1R footage
I have a two cam shoot coming up Cam A is a Ex1R and Cam B is Z1. Im just wondering what the best setting on the EX1R I should use so the footage is similar. As far as i know the EX1R doesnt shoot HDV? Any suggestions? Thanks.
Re: Mixing Z1 & EX1R footage
The EX1R does shoot HDV format when Video Format is set to "SP 1440".
However the hard thing will be to match picture profiles to get a similar looking image, I unfortunately can't help you there.

Re: Mixing Z1 & EX1R footage
The problem is that your going to have to dumb down the EX picture a lot to make it match a Z1. Do you really want to take your "A" camera and make it look poor to match your "B" camera?
The colorimetry should be similar as all Sony cameras are set up to a matching standard, but your going to have to crush the blacks with some negative black gamma and boost the detail correction well into the + numbers to give the EX an electronic look.

Re: Mixing Z1 & EX1R footage
I have never used an EX1R but...
I have matched EX3 and Z1, as follows:
1. Fit the EX3 with a Tiffen T1 IR filter (removes the ambiguity of brown). Compensate the filter's green tint either in camera or in post (primary CC)
2. The Z1 has a "pit" in cyan, can use secondary CC in post to normalize it prior to any primary CC. Apple Color got the rooms the wrong way round?
