Hello,
I've got an mid 2009 Macbook Pro with an expresscard/34 slot. When transfering data from a Sony SBS64G1A the read speed is at around 3.4MB/s. The card has a max read speed of 1.2Gb/s, so assuming expresscard can deliver, it should be around 150MB/s.
I've installed the Sony SXS driver and I'm transferring through finder (rather than that Sony application).
Can someone tell me if this normal? If there is a solution to speed it up?
Thanks in advance, Maarten

Re: OSX 10.8.4 MBP: Expresscard/34 & SXS very slow transfer
Are you sure you have the latest driver version. There have been lot's of driver updates, each larger card normally needs a new update. Also transfer speed will depend on what you are transferring to, is the destination fast enough?

Well, I've downloaded the latest driver from the Sony website. I've already tried to reinstall it.. that didn't help. I'm transferring data to an internal hdd, so that shouldn't be a problem.
I do believe to remember that when I first installed the driver (a few osx minor updates back, 10.8.x) it did work at a decent speed. I'm not sure whether that was fantasy or reality...

Back when I initially installed the SXS package it was up to speed. Somewhere along the way it got very slow. Maybe with an OSX update another UDF driver got installed. Anyways, I had udf: Version: 2.3 (Last Modified: 6/25/12 8:03 AM) installed. Now I've installed from the sony website: sxsudf_fs: Version: 2.0.0d007 (Last Modified: 5/29/12 10:36 AM). That has brought it back to speed at 160-169MB/s
