Updated FS700 bit depth

Post by Markyboy » November 20th, 2013, 5:37 pm

Hi Alister,
Now that I have had the upgrade performed on my FS700 camera is my HD SDI output at a higher bit depth than previously or does this only apply to 2k and 4k modes. Can I now shoot 1920x1080 Slog2 at 10 bit onto a Ki Pro for example?
Many thanks.

No there is no change to the HDSDI output, it is still 8 bit.

The only way to record at a higher bit depth will be with the Convergent Design Odyssey 7Q either in raw which is 12 bit or by using the 7Q's ability to convert the 12 bit raw to a 10 bit compressed recording. This functionality should come in an update to the 7Q at the end of the year.
