This is a bit of a mystery.
I've been using my PMW500 for over three years and have been tapeless for nearly 7. I've never had an problems.
Yesterday, I was filming a football match. All was fine until i tried to copy the sxs card in my Mac. The card is unreadable.
When I try and read the card in my camera it says 'Cannot use media in UDF mode' I can't even reformat the card in the camera. It's a 32gb sxs-1
Other cards record fine and there was no indication of any problem whilst recording. The card wasn't removed prematurely.
I'm lost with this.....has anyone had anything vaguely similar? I hope to god its the card not the camera. The card is 3 years old but has only had moderate useage and is looked after.
Any thoughts??

Camera was probably set to the wrong mode. The camera can be in either UDF or FAT mode. The camera cannot use a FAT formatted card in UDF mode and vice-versa.

No. Afraid not. Turns out it was a card failure. Back to Mr. Sony I'm afraid. A bit worrying - the first complete card failure in 7 years of shooting tapeless

Sorry to hear about that. It is exceptionally rare.
