I'm using nanoflash devices with my EX cameras (350 and EX-3). I run the HD-SDI cable from the cameras to the nano in, and then from the nano out to the monitors (Panasonic 17 in and Marshall 7 in). I guess it takes time to run the signal that far, because the monitor is usually a few frames behind the monitor on the camera! I think this is called latency. It's a bit disconcerting to see the picture delayed from the sound in the headphones from the camera. I suppose I could just audio monitor from the nano as well, but is there some setting in the camera or on the nano to adjust for this?

It's a processing delay through the system. The HDSDi out of the camera is about 1 frame behind the actual action, then there is another delay through the NanoFlash unless you select "E-E direct" in the NanoFlash menu.

Thanks, Alister! I wondered what E-E direct meant! I'll give it a go next gig. One frame off should be a lot better.

E to E bypasses any internal processing, thus reducing latency.
