Exporting nano footage from FCP - settings?

Post by harryllama@yahoo.com » March 31st, 2011, 9:00 am

Alister and others,

We have been recording live concerts using the nanos with various EX cameras. We've set the nanos for 14O Mb/s, which looks much better than the native EX format footage! Now, what are the best settings to use to get an MOV we can bring into Encore for making high-quality blu-rays? We tried exporting a QT movie using current settings, but it didn't look nearly as good as the original footage, and according to VideoSpec the bit rate was only 50 Mb/s. (FCP says the nano clips are at 50 Mb/s, but I've read that this is as high as FCP will report a bit rate, no matter how much higher it is.) Anyway, what codec would you recommend for export as QT to retain the highest quality?

Thanks,
Harry

FCP can only export using the original XDCAM codecs, so export is limited to 50Mb/s. I would export using ProRes HQ for the best quality or normal ProRes for most projects.
