Re: AJA Ki Pro Mini (Interlaced Signal)

I think that's because it is in fact an interlaced signal that the F3 sends on the HD-SDI output irrespective of whether the camera is set to interlaced or progressive. However when he camera is in a progressive mode (e.g. 1080P) the frame being transmitted is in fact a single progressive frame capt...

Re: Cineform Gemini 4:4:4 recorder announced.

Thanks Alister, Having looked again at the CineDeck I'm now pretty sure the Gemini is the best fit for 'on-camera' use for me based on what's out there at the moment. The Cinedeck would be awesome if it was smaller, lighter, quieter and didn't need 60+ watts of power. It's not really an option for o...

Re: Vulnerabilities

Well we'll see - the damaged unit was picked up yesterday - just as my second F3 body (finally) arrived in so that was nice timing! The Prime Support guys seem to be a good bunch so I'm hopeful that it won't take longer than it needs to. I'll be more careful with the accessories in future but I'm st...

Re: Cineform Gemini 4:4:4 recorder announced.

Alister, I'm very interested in this recorder too but I'm daunted at the prospect of uncompressed 4:4:4 - don't you think (at least for the next while) that it will be very unwieldy? I know it gives maximum flexibility but the files are going to be enormous aren't they? If only it had an onboard com...

Re: Vulnerabilities

You might be interested to know, I've been in touch with Sony (Prime Support) back and forth for the last few days regarding the busted viewfinder ribbon. Their fabulous idea is "to put a warning in the user manual advising one to not screw anything in that is longer than 5.2mm (1/4")"...

Vulnerabilities

I hate to be a party pooper when it comes to the F3 but I knackered my F3's viewfinder today - and it revealed a problem that could easily happen to someone else. The mounting holes on the handle are different to those on the chassis itself. The ones on the chassis have a solid metal base so it's di...
