Shooting Sunrise - with PDW-530p camera

Post by pbnz » April 25th, 2012, 4:43 am

Hi there,

I need to shoot a sunrise and would appreciate some help with how best to do this.

I only need to record about 40mins of the sun rising with the light hitting the landscape. It will be a wide shot. It will be used as a time lapse.

I'll be shooting on the xdcam 530 on imx50. I won't be using any polarizers.

I would like to get a nice orange / warm look to the picture.

I'll be recording just befor the sun comes shows on the horizon.

What would be the best settings, CC and ND filter wheel positions to try and also should the iris be set to auto or should I manually control it?

Thanks and appreciate your help. And great website too . Cheers

I tend to use auto iris as this gives a nice smooth transition from dark to light. I would not normally use any gain and set my white balance to 4500k as this will accentuate the orange of the rising sun.
