ProRes vs XDCAM for S-Log?

We recently shot a show using two F3s with S-log. One was recorded to a Samurai in ProRes HQ, the other to a NanoFlash in XDCAM format. I might be mistaken, but the XDCAM footage seemed to have better color than the ProRes. Doesn't really make sense to me, but we can't explain it any other way. (Although one camera used an EF zoom lens, the other a Nikkor prime.) Should there be any difference between the codecs in terms of color?

Thanks,
Harry

Different lenses can have very different looks and that may be part of the issue, but in addition there will be small differences between the colour space of different codecs. Then add the way that different decoders in you software may be working and you can end up with a quite noticeable different. Also check that you software isn't clipping the luma levels.
