Cant get an image from PMW500 video out, to Panasonic 9 inch BT LCD monitor.. in 422 UDF mode.. SD HDI is fine.. tried the different out put settings for video out.. but no cigar.. any idea,s ?

Is it outputting HD SDI that you can see on the monitor?

As I remember the settings are SD/DV HD/HDV and one other.. not got camera to hand...!

If it is outputting HD you can see surely its a monitor problem/setup for the other settings?

If your stuck remember the Monitor out on the Side is a PAL SD vid output.

Sorry if its a bit muddled .. In UDF mode HD SDI from camera to monitor is fine.. but the video out set to HD I can't get a picture on my 9inch Pana BT LCD HD monitor.. in either the video input or the HD SDI input...

Is video out on the side only SD..? nothing seems to say that clearly in the manual ?

99% certain the side socket (monitor out) is SD out only..

ok thanks Martyn.. not the end of the world.. just less of a fiddle than the back one I find.. TBH Im surprised that anyone would buy this camera and shoot SD.. ? are there any SD shoots left in the world..??

Lots if you work in news in the UK! ITV, ITN & Daybreak still shoot on DV Cam as do many freelancers for BBC News. Staff crews at the Beeb have switched to Sony Pmw cameras but the news is still being broadcast in SD.

I stand corrected sir..can you ask them if the video out is only SD thanks..

The video out is SD composite only or can be set as HD Y only, but this is luma only so won't give you a colour image, this is not SDI it is composite in SD and Component Y in HD.
