Well no surprises here to be honest but Mike Tapa of MTF has already finalised the design of an adapter that will allow users of Sony’s still to be released PMW-F3 to use low cost (compared to PL) Nikon DSLR lenses. This open up a huge range of lens options and I’m quite sure that with good high end lenses the results will be very good. It’s certainly the way I will be going.

Any news on a Canon EF adapter for F3? I've got a bunch of terrific zoom lenses I'd like to use!

You'll need a birger mount to have full function on the EF zooms.

I have my MTF Nikon to F3 adapter. Great build quality, fits very snug. No play. It took a few minutes to figure out the way it works. However, I deliberately chose all my Nikon lenses to have manual aperture rings, so I only had to set the adapter for wide open and lock it down that way.
But its nice to know I can use other Nikon lenses if I want to do so.

Hello everyone.
I have noticed some soft reflections occuring when using Nikon optics toghether with the MTF adapter on F3.
No dirt on front lens, a normal cloudy day, but shades of soft light on parts of the picture.
Has anybody seen the same?
kind regards
Dennis

Are you using a matte box, or at least a hood?

Yes,
The flare seems to occur inside of the lens. Or, perhaps, after the adapter. And only on third party SLR-optics. I have never seen it on PL-optics.
My thought is that, even though the adapter doesn't spill light itself, light might bounce on the inside of the adapter on to the sensor.
I know, it is a long shot, but there could be theoretical risk for this.
Therefore it would be interesting to hear if someone else has seen this?
I have seen it from two different sources myself.

The adapter has a baffle at the rear which should minimise any rear reflections. It's probably more a limitation of the lenses. Lets face it a DSLR lens is typically 1/10 the cost of a PL lens.

Very true.
Having in mind that we are dealing with cheap glass is something one must not forget.
However, as I have been asked about this phenomenon from different persons,
my curiosity lead me to think that there might be factors involved as well.
But I don't have enough facts from their shootings to be able to draw further conclusions from them.

Hi,
I just got the MTF adapter for my F3. So happy to be able to use my Nikon primes.
I want to add a zoom though and am not sure if I can use one WITHOUT manual aperture like the Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S DX? The other option WITH manual aperture would be the Nikon 17-35mm f/2.8D ED-IF AF-S
Do you have any recomendation on these two lenses, and how they would work on the F3 with the MTF adapter?
Thanks for your comments!!!
