I have created two new sets of film look LUT’s for the FS7, F5 and F55. These LUT’s should be used in conjunction with S-Log3 and SGamut3.cine. They will give you a high contrast film like look that mimics Kodak film stock with slightly blue dark and mid tones and warm skin tones. The are 3D cube LUT’s and the two sets include LUT’s with compensation for under and over exposure.
To use the LUT’s in camera on the PXW-FS7, PMW-F5 or PMW-F55 then the LUT’s need to be placed in the PMWF55_F5 folder on an SD card. The correct folder structure should look like this:
PRIVATE – SONY – PRO – CAMERA – PMWF55_F5
Slog3_cine-film-look-luts
If you find the LUT’s useful please consider buying me a drink, they did take some time to create:
Just wondering what the issue is with loading these on the FS7. I get the File Access NG message. What’s the solution for this? Thanks for your help!
I’m getting the same message “Access NG”
My file structure is proper — any thoughts??
Are you sure your not trying to load junk files that a Mac will generate on the SD card?
Thank you for the LUTs, Alister! Whatmidgrey/white levels are you using for those? Thx!
The normal S-log3 levels of middle grey at 41%.
I just received a FS7, and have experienced that clips look vastly different in Resolve compared to FCPX/AE/Premiere and VLC. They all look the same. The footage was UHD xavc-i 25fps.
The problem is that Resolve seems to be the app that displays the files correctly, while FCPX/Adobe/VLC all seems like they crush the blacks. Therefore when I apply a LUT in those apps, the image looks nothing like what we recorded.
note: lifting the blacks by aprox 6% and lowering the highlights by the same amount seems to give an image that looks the same.
Have you guys experienced this?
Lars,
It is most likely due to the project settings in Premiere Pro. Davinci Resolve uses a 32bits per channel (bpc) where as Premiere Pro does not.
After Effects can also be set to use 32 bits per channel in the project settings menu. I think they go by multiples of 8 (so 8bpc, 16bpc, and 32bpc).
Hi Alister, I just payed for the LUTs but I got a 404 error after payment page. any chance you can send me the Luts to my email? thanks
Ignor the 404 error. There is a direct link to the LUT’s on the page, just click on where it says “Slog3 cine film look luts”. Or go to this page and click on where it says Slog3 cine film look luts. https://www.xdcam-user.com/2014/11/new-film-look-luts-for-the-pxw-fs7-pmw-f5-and-pmw-f55/slog3_cine-film-look-luts/

Hi Alister,
I love your LUTs. I was wondering how you go about creating them? Any tips on learning more about creating LUTs?
Thanks
Supremely helpful.
Enjoy the cocktail!
Thanks.
