Getting a little concerned with all the chatter about the FX6. I invested in the FX 9 and this is what I am interested in and which peripherals work best with it. Yes, it’s good to know about the FX6, but it is strictly a B camera to me. Knowing about its inner workings is good but I will never buy one as I use the FX9 along with the A7Slll.
I’m not knocking the FX 6 at all, it looks like a great camera but I’ve already invested in the FX9 and the new Sony dslr for slider use.
The FX6 is the new kid on the block, so there will be a lot of discussion around it. The FX9 is a year old now and pretty much everything there is to talk about has already been discussed. That doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with it.
I had an interesting discovery that the FX9 noise reduction works in raw. Does this also work with the FX6?
Yes, but it’s not recommended.
Optimal for HDR finishing or to give greater flexibility in SDR (Rec.709).
So recording in RAW in Slog3 is not possible? Forgive me if this is a dumb question?
Raw is raw, it is not S-Log3. But in the edit suite the raw can be converted to S-Log3 or Rec-709 or whatever you need that fits with your workflow.
Hey Alister. Is the Shogun 7 the only Atomos monitor/recorder you would recommend for the FX6? Is the Ninja V compatible with the FX6 and also able to record ProRes RAW? Thanks in advance for your advice!
The Shogun 7 is currently the only monitor/recorder on the market than can record raw from the FX6/FX9.
Hi Alister,
I’m going to shoot with fx6/shogun 7 tomorrow and was wondering:
For 60fps slomo, I’ll need to record at 60p, and interpret the footage later in the editing, right? Or is it also possible to use S&Q, sending à already slomo’d footage?
I’ll be recording propres raw.
Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Federico
